In March 2017 Meridian Linguistics partnered with localization company HansemEUG to provide Korean technology giant Naver with 300,000 words of Korean to French translation. With a round-the-clock team of 25 translators based in Korea, Europe, and North America, Meridian translated and delivered 30,000 words a day, to provide Naver with the data necessary to train its new app Papago in time for its launch date. Papago uses neural network machine translation technology to provide automatic text translations, and is expected to provide translation relief to the hordes of tourists, athletes, and staff that will descend upon the Pyeongchang for the Winter Olympics in 2018.
